How do respiratory diseases like Coronavirus spread?
Many of the germs that cause respiratory diseases, like COVID-19 (Coronavirus), are spread by droplets that come from coughing and sneezing. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into their lungs. It can also spread by touching something with germs on it and then touching your mouth or nose.
How do you protect yourself?
Wash your hands
Wash your hands after being in public, after blowing your nose, coughing, sneezing, eating or using the bathroom.
Wash your hand with soap and water for at least 20 sec.
If soap and water is not available, use hand sanitizer that contains at 60% alcohol.
If your hands are visibly dirty you need to use soap and water to wash your hands.
Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if you have not washed your hands.
Social distancing
Avoid contact with people who are sick.
Put 6 feet between yourself and other people.
Stay home as much as you can.
Do not go to large public gathering.
Do not have parties, play dates or gatherings in your home.
How do you protect others?
Cover coughs and sneezes
Cover you mouth and nose with a tissue or the inside of your elbow.
Throw away the tissues then wash you hands or use hand sanitizer.
Clean and disinfect
Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces
Wear a face mask if you are sick.
